The SIXT Always Yes team consists of wonderful people who take #AlwaysYesEnergy beyond the office. Some of them turn passion into discipline, and discipline into performance.
One such example is our colleague, Laurențiu Nedelcu, Fleet Service Coordinator. For 15 years, Laurentiu has lived with the mountains in his blood. He has turned consistency and resilience into a way of life. He is also the one who has taken his passion to the level of performance.
In 2026, Laurențiu will participate in Transylvania 100K, one of the most appreciated international mountain running competitions, a challenge in which you fight not with others, but with yourself.
We invited Laurentiu to tell us a little about his passion. We discovered that, since 2023, he has been a mountain guide certified by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism and that he has been training for about 10 years. But that is not all...
1. How long have you been passionate about this very difficult ultramarathon?
Laurentiu: I have been passionate about the mountains for about 15 years. Since 2023, I have been a mountain guide certified by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Tourism, and in the last two years, mountain hiking has become mountain running.
2. How many years have you been training and what does your daily training consist of?
Laurentiu: I have been training for about 10 years. My daily training consists of running in the park or at the gym, muscle group training, and practicing other sports that help you discover new limits. And most importantly, field training: competition simulation.
3. How did you get started? What sparked your desire and passion to do this?
Laurentiu: The fact that I love the mountains. I go to the mountains frequently and I turned walking into running, whether in the mountains in Romania or abroad.
4. What keeps you going?
Laurentiu: I am motivated by the desire to constantly step outside my comfort zone. The human body has no limits. It is a competition with my own mind. I prove to it that it can do it.
5. How many competitions have you won so far?
Laurentiu: In such competitions, the winner is the one who finishes the race within the time limit set by the organizer, regardless of whether they are first or last.
6. What is the next competition you will take part in?
Laurentiu: This year, I will participate in Transylvania 100K. It is an internationally renowned competition with a strong emotional impact, sweat, and struggle with yourself, which every mountain runner wants to have on their record as a finisher.
